Ok so I was riding my bike on a very busy ave. in queens ny and one block had a couple of double parked vehicles so I thought it was too dangerous as a car could hit me or someone could open the door and hit me so I got on the sidewalk to avoid it and while I was slowly riding the bike, the cops stop me and gave me a summons for riding bike on the sidewalk (Yes I know I'm such a rebel...) Anyway, It didn't say how much I have to pay... Do they tell me how much I got to pay in court? Might they just dismiss this or something because It's sort of stupid? How much is it usually?

Well try to get the fine lowered by telling the judge

1. You were not putting anyone in danger

2. You were riding at a sane speed

3. You were in danger of being hit by a car

Assuming all of the above is true.

They probably wont dismiss it. Its money for the government. There is a chance that the police officer that cited you wont show up on the summons date, if that is happens ask for the case to be dismissed.

Other then that pay the fine, try to get the fine as low as you can
