i got a 1994 buick century and when i would try to start it, it would either shut off after a few seconds of being on. or i would start it and it would turn on and i would throw it in gear and try to drive off but it felt like it lacked power or just hesitated to move.in the mornings it starts at the second try, after that is when it wants to act up. but some time it doesn't cause me no problems....i changed my muffler, and a few days later maybe a week it started doing that....i don't know if this could be part of the problem or what.......i also changed the fuel filter so thats new......any suggestions...or does any one know what it could be?

plugged converters, bad o2 sensors, plugged air filter, crank position sensor going out, fuel pump going out. just a few things to look at

Check your crank position sensor it regulates engine timing tells what fuel injector to pulse and when. If you have an extended start like you have to turn the key 2-5 times and then it starts and runs fine it is 85% chance of it being that. The harmonic balancer might have scraped the sensor it could be dirty or just 15 years old.

I would also look and see if you have spark check your coil pack and ignition module if the car eventually stalls out and wont restart check these 2 parts ingnition module first then coil pack

If you can describe anything more please do like does it back fire sputter feel like it is missing does it sputter and drive really slow and you turn it off and then let it sit for an hour and it is fine thenit starts again let me know.
Good luck.
