I get these random sharp pains under my fingernails?

I have experienced this for quite some time, It's never just one finger that it happens to. It's really painful and I have no idea why it does that. Any ideas?
Don't cut my fingernails too deep? What? Are you meaning don't cut them too short because they aren't short.
