I gave my bf advice and acted like a friend,Is this normal?

Ok i gave advice to my boyfriend about dumping me. He was telling me hes confused about me and that he has no control over his life..he asked if he should let someone control him to make things good even though hes not happy,Ofcourse i know hes talking about me being ''someone'' so i acted like a friend telling him he shouldnt let anyone control him blahblah etc.. (im very bossy and really deep inside i would hate if he stopped listening to me) But the thing is i usually get mad n argue with him if he says hes confused but since i acted like a friend we didnt argue and we had a good conversation and now i dont want him to dump me even tho i adviced him to do so,so he can be happy...What do i do now? he has not dumped me but i know he will soon! i want him happy and i also want to be happy but we dont get along. Most times i hate him but i still love him and wish i did not love him. Should i wait for him to dump me or should i dump him OR should i stop being bossy? And if we break up should i stay friends with him =/
