I found a verizon phone, can I use it?

Its an lg venus. i dont want to get in trouble, i dont know if its reported, no ones claimed it and ive tried, but if i switch batteries (i have the same battery for the venus in my current phone), can that clear the esn/phone info or make it so i can use it?
ive had it for months, no ones claimed it. ive put in reports
