I found a sidekick lx 08 but it says "No SIM"?

I found a sidekick lx 08 but, it had a privacy code so i pushed the green button twice,a emergency call box came up then put menu,shift,q. Then everything worked fine. I insert my sim but, now it says "No SIM". What do I do. I dont want to take it to Tmobile because i found it.
