Here's the deal. I've been with sprint for about 4 years now, on two different contracts. My final contract is about up, and I'm looking for new phones for my wife and I.
At first, I was sure that I would never go back to Sprint, they seem to have the lamest phones, and I really like the idea of just being tied to a SIM card, not a phone. But then I started looking at plans, and was a bit dissalusioned.
With a Sprint Sero Plan, at $30, I get more minutes than I'll use, and unlimited free powervision. Two Sero plans are still cheaper than any of the family plans for two lines from any other networks. Even if I use my status as a student at UCR to get a corperate discount on Cingular, adding a data plan will put me way over $60. Plus, Sprint has always been fairly bad at discvering when you're using your phone tethered instead to your laptop for the interweb instead of browsing the wireless web. It's nice to be stuck someplace without the interweb and be able to check your email.
Of course, there's still the issue of the phones. Nothing that sprint has now appeals to me in the least, and I'd still like to be on a GSM carrier. I love the new walkman phone, and the Nokie smartphone that Cingular has. My only hope for a phone I don't mind from Sprint is to wait until November when the new Motorola RAZR'ish things come out. But still, I'm sure it'll be another month or so before I can find a deal on those.
This is getting long. I apologize. Basically, I want a phone with Bluetooth, a memory card for expansion, and that looks square'ish. Not like any of the phones that Sprint has now. And I'd like to get two lines with the wireless web for ~$60. Is there anyone who can save me from entering into another two year contract with the sprint beast?
