I feel like I am falling apart...

I am only 48 and have so many different things, I have allergies, arthritis, asthma and was recently diagnosed with spinal stenois. I feel bad all the time lately and it is really taking its toll on me. I also take lexapro for depression that started with perimenopause. I also keep getting little sores in my nose that just don't want to go away. I have tried bacitracin and just plain vaseline and baby oil, nothing seems to be working for this. I am tired of my nose hurting. I can't seem to get enough sleep no matter what I do. I go to bed early and can barely pull my self out of the bed. On the week ends when I can sleep in I can sleep for almost 12 hours and get up for a few hours and then go back to bed and sleep any where from 2 to 3 hours and still go back to bed at my regular time. I forgot to mention that I take a multivitamin every day and I try to walk every day. I am just about at my wits need as to what could be wrong with me. Any suggestions out there? I go in June for my yearly check up and I am planning on talking to my dr about all of this then, but I need some ideas as to what all to ask her.

hobogirl,

Asthma and arthritis are known to be inflamatory diseases. Have you tried eating an anti-inflammatory diet? I use to have asthma as a boy but I haven't had an asthma attack for several decades. My asthma was triggered by stress and a diet loaded with inflammatory foods.

The worst things are saturated fat, sugar, corn syrup, and baked goods made with white flour. That covers a lot but there's more. To see how foods are rated read: "The Inflammation-Free Diet Plan" by Monica Reinagel.
I'm sure there are some other good books on this subject but this is one I have read and I think it's a good place to start.

Also, the exercise you're doing is good for arthritis. You should walk six days per week for 30 to 45 minutes. 45 minutes is better, if that's possible. You really need to be consistent and keep at it every day.

Also, it's bad to be overweight because excess body fat can cause inflammation.

Depression can ALSO be a cause of many physical ailments, aches, pains, etc. You certainly very well describe a very common symptom of severe depression, and that is sleeping too much, barely able to get out of bed in spite of that...sleeping more during the day....

As a lifelong sufferer of chronic acute depression, I would definitely recommend a good therapist, given the feelings you are describing.

P.S. what sort of support network (friends/family) do you have? You should try to make an effort to build up/maintain a good network for support..people who will listen, offer suggestions, let you vent once in a while, be a shoulder to cry on when you need that...and give you a good kick in the rump when you need THAT, too.

Good luck!

hobogirl: You need to have your thyroid checked, your adrenals and your hormones. They can all play a role in your problems. I read Dr. John Lee's books, "What your Dr. won't tell you about menopause" and also one on perimenopause. Estrogen Dominance has about 40 side-effects and one of them is insomnia!!!!! Asthma and increased allergies
are on there too. If you google his name and the books I think you can see the list.

I've been getting these little bumps/sores inside my nose, too. I haven't a clue what they're from. I thought maybe it was just ingrown hairs. Did you have these sores before you started the Lexapro? Odd things happen to us during THE CHANGE!!! The other thing is your blood sugars. Have you had them checked?

You could also have a vitamin/mineral test done through a hair analysis. It shows toxic and non-toxic elements in the body. I found out I was low in magnesium and selenium through this. That's all I can think of right now. It's late.

i know exactly how you feel. i too feel bad 90 percent of the time. i have something new crop up almost everyday. one thing i would suggest is to stop the multi-vitamin. vitamins make some people feel bad and i am one of them. if you eat right you dont need artificial vitamims. you may be getting too much of something you dont need. good luck. im still looking for an answer. my dr. blames all my problems on menopause, easy way to say i dont have a clue!!!!!
