I dropped my apple laptop on the floor and it wont switch off?

i dropped my apple laptop , it slid off of a 2 foot high foot stall and landed half on the floor and half on a rug - which was lucky!! - it seems to be ok but the only thing is that it is taking longer to load up when i switch it on and it wont turn off unless i hold the power button down. anyone got any thoughts on what this could be?? or anything i could do that might help?? cheers daisy
