I drive a '98 Ford Contour that bucks when I accelerate. What is wrong with my car?

The car has driven fine until now. It has 100.000 miles on it. It doesn't buck under about 10 mph and the bucking increases in intensity with speed. The check engine light didn't turn on. What is wrong with my car?
