I drive a 2000 Ford Focus. It broke down today. Could it be a clogged fuel filter?

I was going at about 50-55 mph, in 4th or 5th gear. Suddenly, it lost power, although the engine did not die. It just bogged down. No weird noises, not running hot. When I tried to accelerate, nothing happened. It just continued to slow. I finally was able to get off the road, and when the car came to a stop, then engine cut out. I tried to start it again several times--it seemed like it wanted to start, but didn't have the power. Any ideas?

I doubt it's the fuel filter but there is a .00001 % chance I suppose. I'd tow it to a reputable repair facility and pay to have it properly diagnosed by a professional, good luck.

It's not likely. Not since it lost power basically all at once. But that doesn't make it impossible. It could be. Did you get gas recently? Could also be water in the fuel.

IMO i think you have a fuel problem, like the chance of Bad fuel is possible, but im thinking fuel pump, or a ignition module...
you have to get you car to a shop and have them check., at least you have and idea...

hope this helps. good luck
