I don't understand poetry!!!!?

What is the point of poetry? i don't get it? Is it supposed to be funny or something?

Please Hurry!
 
It's a form of art. Do you like music? What about paintings? Sculpture? Books? Movies?

Poetry is a way of expressing oneself. Sometimes it can be funny. Sometimes it can be sad. Sometimes it can be inspiring. There are many different meanings in poetry, just as there are many different meanings in songs.
 
Poetry is a form of expression. It's how the writer describes their feelings, and with some poems after you are done reading the poem you think "wow". If you haven't felt that yet, you will one day. Poetry can be simple, and it can be complex. There is really no right or wrong. It just a form of self expression. To get a message out, it's feelings on paper. As we can't physically show someone our feelings like, "look this is mad" but we can express them. It's like music, painting, and singing. I used to not understand poetry, and now I love it. I was just not educated enough to understand any, or appreciate any. But poetry, is a beautiful thing. <3
 
Funny? Some poems can be funny!
Most are used as a way to express one's thoughts. The author of a poem gets the point they're saying across in a beautiful elaborate way.
 
It just like a short way to get out feelings.
Its usually pretty emotional :]
It's not so much for others enjoyment (like writing
a book or something), Its for yourself!
