Ok, so, i only have my dad since my mum died when i was only 10. I'm 14 now and i've just started my period. We have a few pads/tampons lying around the house so i'm using them at the moment but soon they're going to run out and then what will i do?! I can't talk to my dad about this stuff because it's just too embarrassing. What do i do?

That's the only way, he's a man! He knows about it already. I'm sure he notices the pad/tampon wrappers lying around. Just work up the guts to tell him, if you're really that embarrissed, send him and e-mail or even text it to him!

I think you should tell your dad. I have heard of many girls talking openly with their dads about things like these. Don't be embarrassed, just tell him. If you simply can't tell him, I would talk to a cousin or a friend who is a girl and see if they can help. Don't worry about your periods, their natural and you shouldn't be embarrassed. Good luck.

Your dad should be aware that his girl is growing up and will be starting her period soon. He is probably just as embarrassed to talk about it as you are. But he is your dad and will be there for you when you need him. As scary as it might be, you can't keep it secret forever. Sooner or later he will find it and there is nothing you should be embarrassed about. Every girl goes through it. And the older you get, the more open you will be about it. So it is understandable that you are embarrassed right now. I suggest calling your aunt or grandma and letting them know your situation. I'm sure they would be more than happy to go guy you some pads/tampons and bring them to the house. You could also have them mention something about it to your father when you aren't around. That way it will be less embarrassing for both you and him. It is all part of growing up (: No need to be embarrassed.
