I dont know how to go about getting financial aid?

I go to a community college in Austin texas. I been paying cash for the few classes i have been taking. I dont know how financial aid works. I have gone to the financial aid office and they are of no help. They are mean and rude to me. I ask question and all they do is tell me fill this and that out but they wont help in answering my questions. Here is my situation, im 24 years old i have no job and i live in between places with family and friends. I have no income and i have been looking for work i have applied at many places but no calls back. Its not that im lazy and dont want to work but they wont hire me. Questions is will i be able to get financial aid or grants to help me pay for school? I have no income. Im thinking about just quiting school because i cant afford it. I make money under the table here and there and thats were all my money gos to school. They let me make payments which is alot of help. But books and stuff i need for school i cant afford. How can a person like me get financial aid for school if i have no job or anything for that matter? Thanks
