Realize Pennzoil may no longer be oil but I bought a new Trans Am Firebird Convertible in 69 and ran Pennzoil in till 1983 till I parked it in 1983 with 175K on it. Set for 8 years in a garage. My son and I restored the interior and exterior in 1990 and he drove till the lifters which the pistons had stuck in cupped out so bad that the lifter were clattering. We tore it down in my garage with 245K on it. The pistons were fine and the cylinders had about .003 out of round near the top. Honed and crosshatched it. The crank and connecting rods shells had virtual no wear. The oil pump was in spec. Put a new set of rings, lifters, touched up the valves and put new o-ring seals in and gaskets back in it. Son drove it till the second interior was raged out and the paint and top were shabby. It had 325K on it and I sold it to a pilot at Langley for twice what I paid for it. Told the pilot the odometer at 25K was around 3 times and put it on the title. Actual a good deal if you are in to old cars because this was really a rare one with the wing fin, not the duck bill. Still would smoke the rear tires and burnt no oil. Not everyone knocks Pennzoil.
