they really don't want me to go in either. they would rather see me in the navy, air force,or coast guard because "i will be safer, and there a more opportunities when i get out"

It's definitely going to be a tough conversation to have with them, but you need to be outright and honest, and show them that this is something that you have a sincere interest in.

At the same time, keep in mind that your parents are worried about your health and safety, so however angry they get, they are probably just scared for you. Remember that they love you, and express the same emotions towards them.

Good luck.

Just tell them you want to join. Any military uniform you put on, there is always going to be a risk. When it's our time to go, we will go.

Army is bigger, less selective, not as hard, more diverse opportunities and better bonuses (more money).

The United States Marine Core is offers the privilege of serving with Marines

Personally I'm looking into the Marines. Good luck.

Just be honest with them. Tell them exactly what you're feeling and why you want to join one of those branches. There will be just as many opportunities when you come out of one of those branches if you get training in the right field. All I mean is that if you want to be an engineer, then maybe infantry isn't the best way to get experience, but it's a great way to become a Police Officer. So choose your own path wisely, do your research, and then tell them what you found out. If you know what you want to do and sound confident, then they'll be more at ease.
