I.D. side scrolling arcade game?

This is what I can remember, shooter moves left to right, fires handgun type, play starts on an industrial walk way, doors open revealing foes, he can jump over doors, jump up to grab ladders, down to lower levels, he can duck, any help would be great
 
You're going to have to describe this a little better. Was there any vertical movement at all, or was it straight left-right only? Were the graphics 8-bit(Nintendo style) or 16 to 32-bit? At the moment though, it sounds like one of the Metal Slug games. You run around with a pistol initially, but can pick up other weapons (rifles, machinguns, etc) Violence was somewhat graphic, but still within the teen rating area.
