i chat question!! i can't webcam with an account from hotmail!! what should i do?

I have a brand new mac! and my I chat is acting weird im trying to webcam with a hotmail account! i have aim and a mac account but is not working either way??? what should i do?? i try going to preferences and making sure the right account was on and is not working?? any tips??
