I caught a perch fish and am keeping him in my 10 gallon aquarium. I feed him...

...a earth worm? He didn't like flakes so I gave him an earth worm. I saw him eat a little, should I just leave him with the worm to eat for later? he is about 3 inches. Should I take him back to the lake and set him free? I like him and think he is neat, but he seems sad, and wants to be with his fish friends, but my tank is only big enough for one. And also is there a type of plant I should get to put in the aquarium if I decide to hold on to him for a little longer.

1 perch would require a larger aquarium(15-20 gallon) or you could let the fish go. Perch like meaty foods. chop up the worms so he can swallow them easier. If you get a large tank you could attempt to breed perch the fry that survive would be better adapted to aquarium life. If you want a plant you could dive into the pond or lake to look for plant life. buy a filter too!. My uncle has kept small fish in a 50 gallon like pumpkin seeds and perch and sometimes keep a crayfish in there or 2. Never put the fish back if it was in the aquarium because the habitat might get aquarium fish diseases.

Now i wanna start a pond aquarium!!!!!
