I have two male rats that I've had for around 6 months now that I got from a pet store when they were around 6 weeks old.
One of them is really friendly, loves being out of his cage, being held ect, but the other one just does not like me.
He will not come anywhere near me or anyone else, bites if you try and stroke him and squeaks and goes crazy if you try and pick him up!
I feel like I've tried everything with him, I've sat by his cage with the door open and whilst his brother will come out and explore the nasty one will not even move until i'm gone. I've tried holding him for long periods of time but he just goes crazy and will even jump from my shoulder onto the floor. I've tried giving him treats whilst i've got him so that he associates treats with me but he refuses to eat anything whilst being held.
I think the most frustrating thing is, is the fact that his brother from the same litter is a wonderful rat!
Am I just going to have to put up with a rat that hates attention and leave him alone?
