I can't seem to get Stich-Mode to work on Canon A-630?

When i take a shot on shot 1 it comes out and you can take another shot to match it with the first shot, well i do that but when im done, i go to gallery mode to see the shot i took, and it shows up as two seperate photos?
Can someone help me with this? Im assuming that you can take two shots in stitch mode and in the gallery it will show up as one?
