I can't listen to my music on Window Media Player? Why?

It always says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." What can I do to listen to my music?
 
You need to install the proper codec. For example if your file is "FLAC" you need to download that codec. If you have no sound at all on your computer and your sound circuit is a chip on the motherboard you need to activate it. Go into the BIOS and turn the chip on. If you have a desktop with a soundcard you need to take it out and refit it as there may be a bad contact.

right click my computer
Properties
Hardware
Device manager
Sound, video and game controllers
See if there are any '?' on any of these, especially on the sound one. If there is there isa problem. If not, right click the sound. hit update driver. If this doesn't work, hit uninstall then your computer will find the driver for it.
