My back has hurt for years now. I find that after laying flat it or on my stomach it hurts w/in minutes. I had an x-ray done last year and nothing showed up. I talked my husband into getting us a select comfort bed and have tried every setting and that still does not make it feel any better. I can only sleep on my side w/ a pillow between my legs and a pillow up against my back and I find if I sleep over 6 hrs a night I toss and turn every morning w/ this darn achey back. Once I get up and get moving around it feels alittle better but through out the day starts aching again. I have been working on my posture and starting taking calcium chews cause I am 44 yrs. old and was told by my dr. I need the extra calcium. Would any one know if stretching excercises help this problem. I can't work out too much cause I get awful headaches when my cadio gets going that lead into migraines. Any suggestions????
Thanks, Jodi

Jodi, I would go back to the dr you saw or another and explain to them that you are continuing to have back pain after a full year. I would explain what you have tried to relieve it and that you have not found a solution and the pain continues to persist. You might consider comparing your pain to something tangible. It feels like I have labor pain right before one pushes or like my back is being slammed into a car door repeatedly or it feels like a dull tooth ache. This can help them to evaluate the amount of pain you are having.

Unfortunately not everything shows up on an xray and you need to have an MRI to see the detail of the spinal disc and nerve roots. An xray shows you the bone structure and not all back problems can be diagnosed by a simple xray.

Good luck and I pray that they find a simple solution to your pain that some physical therapy will resolve.
