I can't get the sound to work on my laptop after connecting it to my HD TV?

I connected my laptop to my HD TV and switched the sound device to HDMI. After disconnecting the laptop from the TV I normally go to the playback devices menu and select speakers, but it has now disapeared all of a sudden. I can on get sound through the TV or through headphones. Can anyone tell me how I can get the speakers to work. Thank you
