I cant get my motorcycle (1982 yamaha virago 750cc) to start, any tips or advice?

The battery is dead for sure, but when i tried to jump it from my moms car, i still couldn't get the bike to do anything (headlights, blinkers, cranking, even the horn). I bought it today, and when i went to look at it, they were able to crank it with a jump but there was no gas in the tank. In transit, the bike fell on its side in the trailer, but there was no considerable damage just a few scratches and the window popped off. I took it home and cleaned the carburetor as told to do so by the person i bought it from (I put it back together right, don't tell me i might have not), and i put that back, i put gas into the tank, and i tried to jump it from my moms car, nothing. I checked all the electrical stuff (plugs and wires) and one thing was out of place but i put it back, tried again and nothing. It seems that for some reason absolutely no electricity is getting to any part of the bike, headlights, starter, horn, nothing. I don't know what to do. help? the bike is in good condition don't get me wrong, its just been sitting for a while because the owner before me didn't use it at all.
