I Can't Figure this movie/book?

I can't remember a book I read... but I saw the movie... i don't remember for the life of me the name of it. But he goes and he is on an island with a whole bunch of small people, then he goes to an island where horses are like humans and raise him to be like them, but then he gets greedy with the dimonds he finds and the horses banish him..

whats that book called? does anyone know?
