Okay so i found an 88 Mercury Cougar with a 5.0 302 V8. It has 98,000 miles. Its in perfect condition inside and out. The asking price is 500$ but the woman who owns it said i could have it for 450$. The Bad Part: It needs a transmission. The Other Good Part: I found a transmission for it for 100$ and my dad can put it in. so the total would be 550$

Okay now heres where i can't decide.

I also found a 2001 dodge ram 1500 short bed. Its decent inside and out. It could use some armor-all on the interior. It's got a cd player and only 64,000 miles. The guy said i can have it for 950(but i don't have much money) The Bad Part: The transmission is slipping. The Good Part: I can get a new one for 500$.

So my question is..

Which would be a better deal?
Would it be easier just to fix the transmission in the dodge?
Which is more reliable?

I know the 5.0's are fun. i used to have one.

Thanks!

Its much better to take the car that already drives even if the trans is slipping. The other one may or may not work... old car and you never know.

Dude, the Ford. It's fun, and has tons of bolt on parts, those 302's last forever I swear, I have a 90' Mustang GT and it has 311,000 miles on it, still going.... somewhat strong. lol. I'd go for the cougar, those looks sick with some nice cobra wheels, lowered, good exhaust, and no one ever has them like that. The only modded ones I see are the black peoples car with those "mad tyte" 24 inch rims on them. The Dodge isn't anything special, it's an old pickup truck, kind of boring. The Cougar is CHEAPER, probably CLEANER, and is a whole lot of fun. But hey, it's up to you, your money, your decision. Good luck with it.
