I bought an unlocked Iphone from Dubai, how can I use my Rogers number with the phone ?

I bought an unlocked Iphone from Dubai (they told me any SIM would work with the phone), but my Rogers SIM Card does not work if I put it in the phone.How do I solve this problem ?
