I bought a certified pre-owned vehicle with 55212 miles on it, 1 week later the car

reads 55476 miles? Total 264 miles driven and i haven't left Staten Island New York yet. Took in for service 3 times (once for inspection) 2 other times for grinding brakes all within the first week of purchase. My question is, is there something wrong with the odometer or what could be the reason for so many miles registered? I bought a Mercury Mountaneer 2005. Thanks
