I bought a car off somebody and put down 1,000 and was going to pay the rest in

payments? for a total of $1600, well I never got the title for the vehicle. It turns out he has a lien on the vehicle and I have already sold it without a title for parts. Now 6 months later after no contact, he was in jail, he is calling wanting to pay me back my money (the down payment I gave him) and get the car back. He is even making threats to call police on me saying I stold the car. I have a hand written Bill of Sale, stating he was selling me the car for $1,000 down and 600 to be paid within 30 days and than I will get title. But Im worried I might get in trouble now. I couldnt do anything with the car for 6 months, so I finally sold it for parts to somebody with no title. Is it illegal to sell a car with no title for parts? And am I liable or responsible for theft in legal terms? I cant believe Im wrapped up in this mess, and he's threatning to tell the cops, he left it on my property and I got rid of it. I dont know what to do? Can someone please offer me some guidance? Thank You
 
he's a criminal desperate for money keep the hand written bill of sale and tell him to go back to the prison showers with his new boyfriend
 
you may be alright due to it being abandoned on your property and that you do have a bill of sale that says he sold it to you so its not stolen. I bet the only thing he could do is take you to small claims court to get the 600 dollars that was the rest owed.
