My Mom got me a new quilt for Christmas and it's beautiful.. but it's so STIFF!! I've washed it several times, but it's still stiff and rather uncomfortable. The stitching is pretty close, so it's entirely possible there's nothing I can do about it... but it never hurts to try, right? :)

Thanks for any help you can give!

I have the same problem I tried fabric softener it helped a little but I think you just kinda have to give it time!

Hi, I am not familiar with quilts so I don't have an answer but I do have some thoughts.
For 1, if you have Grandmothers, you should ask them about it.
The other possibility is, I don't think quilts are meant to be washed.
Maybe I don't know for sure. You could also ask someone at a dry cleaners shop; they would be able to tell you directly.

With quilts though, the fabric I believe loosens up with time, you know as in wear. I suppose this material is necessary in order to keep the stitching in place since it is stitched closely, as you mentioned.

Anyway, call up a dry cleaners or ask an older relative just to make sure. People who work with fabrics know the details best.

I hope you find out what will answer your question.
