I am very shy in school, help?

in school, im very shy... i dont talk to anyone and that's why i hardly have any friends in school. I want to make a female friend, because i get along with them more than guys. i dont want to participate on school activities, because i think its pointless. i was like this for my past school years. i am a sophmore in highschool now.And yes im a guy, any help?
 
find something you have in common with others and you will be fine... break down your fences.... when you gain confidence in yourself and when people see it they will approach you... body language says alot
