Pam,
nothing is going to happen to you. It's small increments. It's when you stop the last five that I wonder myself.
because I was in the same prediciment as you are now many months ago.

I could KICK myself in the pants for not having the strength to just stop the last five. I am in a clinic now for eight years, going on nine this coming sept.

It's saved my life and I will never ever tell anyone different. I may get judged by doctors and medical staff and people, but it's all worth it to have my life back again.

The thing I didn't know when I got off the original drug I was addicted to, and got onto methadone to help with the withdrawals of coming off the drug I was on, I had no idea how addicting methadone was. they don't tell you this when you start at the clinic. I found out from others in the world.

I also found out when I went from 90 milligrams down to five. I did it very very slowly in gaps of four to five months at the next drop, and got myself down to the last five.

That's when I made the mistake of taking a pain medication for my sinus headache that was a controlled substance that was NOT my prescription. it was my sisters, and I didn't know it was the type of drug that interacts with methadone and will suddenly detox you.
Well.... did I suffer with withdrawal symptoms! that's when I went to my counselor at the clinic and begged to be put back up again.
So now I'm at 25 and just went yesterday to ask to be dropped five next week.

You are SO lucky to be at 10.

it's nothing to go down to five, believe me.

I just feel so normalized and have energy when I'm on my methadone for all these years. I don't get high on it like people assume you do.
people who don't understand what methadone is assume it.

They think methadonians are people who were addicted to heroin only.

they dont' understand that people become addicted to other opiates like PILLS too.
there has been such an increase of people coming into the clinic who have become addicted to their pain pills. Doctors are aware of this possible risk when they're initially prescribed to them.

what ever reason one is prescribed methadone, it is a potent, powerful and addicting drug to our system. our minRAB want to stop taking it, but the body cries out for it when it's taken away.

But with determination and to be knowlegable about what the body will be going through when we're off it, helps to understand it better.

goodluck, you'll do fine.

keep in touch
