The author leaves clues that this woman is his dead wife who left her body and came to a new body. There is a scene where she plays the piano or something like that just like his dead wife and uses his dead wife's clothes. In the end, it is mentioned that the woman and his wife knew each other before that fatal night. I think in the end, the woman is staring at the mirror and sees her old self-- the dead wife
