my hair is light brown normally but i have been getting it highlighted with a semi regularly. last time was 5 weeks ago and cost me £85.00. i already have about an inch of regrowth and grey coming through.
i was going to try to dye it myself allover light brown but decided not to as i did a strand test and it was not a nice colour- orange almost.
I am wary of going brown all over as i already have red brassy tones at the top of my head and in the past i did this and my hair went really horrid red at parts.
my questions are: 1.as i have to dye regularly due to grey would it be better just to have highlights at roots done rather than all over colour?
2. would asking for a lighter highlight prevent getting that horrid red colour ? (i always ask for subtle not pure blond colours so they put in caramel/gold)
