I'm glad the only "family" I have is what lives in my house. I have disowned all the rest for reasons mentioned above. People have let family shit on them forever because "blood is thicker than water" and all that bullshit. The only family I've ever really cared about is people I've met, become friends with, and then they became family. My blood family is shit, and I don't have to deal with it, I haven't talked to my mother in over 4 years now.

Don't let family shit on you, they're only using you, they're no good even though they're your family and usually people are guilted into dealing with it anyways. Fuck that. Let them deal with their own bullshit.
 
I know if I ever got into trouble my parents would support me, but if I deserved to be in jail, they would leave me there. If I had something coming, they'd let me have the full brunt of it. Its tough love, but how else am I supposed to learn?
Now if I needed a bunch of money because a mob was going to kill me, that might be a slightly different story.
