I am months late on my car payment...what is the worst that can happen?

Soooo I am now months late on my car payment...like 7 months....they haven't repossesed which is amazing, but what is the worst that can happen.. I soo totally am trying and in process of taking out a loan to pay the past due amount. I really haven't had any contact(which I know is stupid on my part), but I want to keep the car. Without car I cnt get to my job. Without job I can't pay bills, or even consider getting back on track with my car payments. I am soo ashamed and really really in a hard time right now. What is the worse that could happen. What if I just sent them the past due money...will everything be okay? I need advice, and I dnt need any smartass ignorant people to pass judgemnt on me...only god can do that....please anyone with any good information that isn't offensive, I would greatly appreciate.
