Are you looking to do serious off road riding? You really don't give a whole lot of info. Are you looking for a motorcycle or an atv? New or used? For your $1000-$1300 price range you should be able to buy a decent used bike of around 250cc, maybe even an older 450cc off road bike. Are you looking to hang onto this bike for a while and then ride it on the street when you turn 16? Then your choices are more limited. Best suggestion is to get some local newspapers and look to see what is for sale around you. Also search on line places like biketrader.com and check for local sellers. Visit them. Get them to start the machine and make sure it does not smoke, starts easily, and has "average wear" for a bike of it's year-another words- check it over. If it looks like crap, chances are it has been beaten to death and unless the price is VERY cheap it should be a signal to run not walk away-unless you are handy with tools and know your way around an engine and chassis. Get someone who actually knows bikes to go with you if possible.
