I am looking for a good/cheap bike?

hi I live in a rural place and my dads old bike hurts my back and the gears dont really work. I am hoping you have some suggestions on what kind or brand of bike would be good for me. I want something with gears definitely but that the body is kind of light so I can lift it and stuff. And I was hoping for a bike with the handles pointing down? sorry I really don;t know anything about bikes, please help me out thanks. And something relatively cheap
 
good and cheap don't usually go together. if you want something cheap that moves, go to Walmart or Target. if you want a good bike relatively cheap, you should go to your local bike shop and see if there is a used bike that fits you. you could also take your dad's old bike to a bike shop and get it fixed up. i took in a 30+ year old bike that barely moved and put $100 into it and it is a great bike.
