and uses black and white.? I am looking for a children's book illustrator. His or her style is very stark and uses black and white.
I remember two books in the same style. One was about a girl who always wore a scarf ( not a green ribbon) and then when she took off the scarf her head rolled off. Another story was about a girl, that's all I remember. I remember all the stories were kind of quirky and very dark. The two stories were in separate books. I also believe this person may be famous, because I have seen the images around before, I just want to know the name.
 
Yeah, it sounds like maybe you're talking about Edward Gorey. His style is black and white.

Is that what you're talking about? I remember he did a book about a girl with a velvet ribbon around her neck and when her friend cut it off while she slept, her head rolled off.
