I am looking for a book about a girl called Zelda, Anybody know what it is called?

The book was written around 1987-88 or before then. I'm not exactly sure when it was written, and I was only 6 or 7 years old when it was read to me. I would love to find this book to read to my children, But have no clue as to it's name. All I can remember is the character's name (Zelda or Xelda) She drops her report card into a storm drain And she pretends to be hit by a car........
