Your 1SG isn't the approving authority, he's not even a recommending authority. I would suggest a compassionate reassignment. Talk to your S-1 personnel about it. Enlisted personnel cannot approve or disapprove any action. It's the officers who are the authority.

...them released? I am currently in the army and I just got back from Iraq, my unit is still on lock down and fenced in though. I was told to put a DA 4187 in to get them released but I know if my 1sg has a say in it, he will not approve it or let it go any further. I really want out of this unit, I just came back from Iraq and my father passed away so I had to gain custody of my younger brother however its a bit hard to care for him in this city I am in. My brother is in special education classes at school and requires extra attention from me, and I cant always provide that attention or time. I know if I pcs then I would be able to get help. My brother doesn't have any extreme problems so I don't think I qualify for a compassionate reassignment. I was also told to contact my congressman because I am on an initial contract, however I been in for 3 1/2 years but they state i pcs two times already. However I never left my duty station they just changed my commands, medcom to forscom.

Any advise on what I could do, I would really appreciate it.

Oh yea we are not scheduled to deploy again for another 1 and a half
