of the house. Advice appreciated.? So I am going to college this coming fall. The college is thirty miles away, and I am debating on whether I should move down there and live in an apartment, or live at home and drive back and forth to school. I went to look at an apartment yesturday, and if I move I will be living with my best friend from high school. If we divided the rent, we each would pay 300 dollars a month, and we want to move in by August 1st. My car is 12 years old, but still works fine. I am working at Mcdonalds for the summer and trying save up some money for moving in. My parents, especially my father, are rather against the idea of me moving out. The car that I have is under my father's insurance, and I do not know if he will let me have it. I am going to have a grad party so hopefully I can make some money there too. If I had to live at home for awhile I guess I would be fine with it, but I feel bad because I would have to tell my best friend that she would have figure something else out. My question is: how much money should I save up if I am going to move out? and is it a better idea to just live at home for awhile, get a better car, and save up some money, and then wait until winter semester to move out?
