My tuition runs $2500, and books $1200, commuting is $70/month. I am 19, with three years at a community college down. I have two years left. I am STILL taking some 100 and 200 level classes for my degree in biochemistry. I am wondering whether or not to HEAD back to community college for a couple of quarters to save money. Overall, I am looking at $17,800 for tuition if I go to the university, versus $14700 going to community college some of the time over the two years. The savings are oddly not too different. The pro of not going to community college anymore is that I am SICK of it. I don't know what to do! I feel stuck in limbo! I have had this money - ($8200 in savings at the bank since age 13!), and do not want to give it up! My family is like, welcome to real world, where debt exists...I understand that, but I just want to play it the smartest way...money is everything in this world today, especially at my age. I may get some family support, but I don't count on it. I am responsible, and earn scholarships, who knows what I may get next year, but they are hard to get, especially these days...all of this doesn't even include dorms...and my mother is a single mother with no father around to help. Well...he won't help. Sure makes me think twice about failing a few of those chemistry courses and not deciding on my major for a year, which slowed me down!
WHAT WOULD YOU do?
btw my major is biochemistry b.s., I would love to earn that!!!
