I am copying tunes to a Favorites CD to play in my car. Help...?

Roxio Easy Media Creator could not do it, Windows Media Player 10 could not do it. I am taking several tunes from a few of my collected CD's and making a Favorites CD for my car.
I have copied each song to my hard drive.
Then, I try burning them to a new cd. The process gets about 85% done, then skips to the end of the project and shuts down. The cd is ejected before even reaching the 55 minute mark on the 80 minute cd.
Desktop and all programs are virus free.
What could be causing the hangup?
 
Put them all into one file in your music file. You will see above the icon "Burn" You can select the file you want to burn and record them, or play them on Window Media Player and burn them. BTW you should download Windows Media Player 11.
