Currently I am a freshman in my second semester at a state university in CA. During my high school years I was a B average student and heavily involved in extracurriculars, I also wrote for a local paper. Now I am in the honors program at my college, where I am involved greatly. My grades have improved since high school, a feat I am proud of given my honors courses. Last semester I received a 3.9 GPA. An additional note is that I am double majoring at my college in film and english. If I were to apply to and get into Columbia I would like to do the double major which I am doing now, this is an important fact which would determine my wanting to go to Columbia. There are two reasons for me wishing to transfer, the first being that I do not want to go to my college for three-four more years, and the second being that I do not believe that I will be properly prepared at my degrees, at least for film since it is such a small program.
My questions are for general advice and opinion. Such questions include: Do you feel I have a chance of acceptance (Note: I am going to make sure I get at least a 3.7 this semester as I enjoy getting such good grades)? What should I do to make myself more want-able to Columbia? Etc.
I encourage all constructive and informative answers. Thank you.
