I am a woman who needs to dress for a business "black tie" event.?

Can I wear a skirt suit? Or do I need to wear an evening dress or cocktail dress. BTW I would prefer to wear a pants suit... but I think that may be our of the question. I want to blend in. I will be talking with CEO and CFO etc. Mostly all male.
