information would be helpful? so i was a junior in high school and i was 17, and uncle sams finest smooth talked thier way into another naive students mind, my stupid ass signed up. i joined the summer before i went to basic, so i had a year long wait. the year flew by, and i went to basic training, since i was a split op, i had to come back home to finish high school, but i dropped out of school when i got back home from basic, i havnt heard from a recruiter, until just a week ago, TWO WEEKS before my ship date to AIT, and he told me that i was getting discharged for not having a diploma.
My question is this: i know im getting discharged, but im not sure what kind of discharge it is, i have asked around, some have said it was a "Entry Level Separation" and others have said it is a "uncharacterized discharge." my recruiter has told me that i have 6 months to get a GED and 15 college credits, but he has not told me the details of what happens if i dont get that. My Unit has told me the same thing, I have 6 months to get a GED, but has not told me any more details.
So when i miss my ship date for AIT what happens?
Do i get my DD-214?
If so, How long does it take?
and how long until i am officially out of the army?
any information you have will be appreciated
