I am a Navy DEP, will I be in major if I confess my asthma when I was younger?

I am a little worried that my asthma will come back, but I have NOT used an inhaler since about age 8. Should I disclose to my recruiter, and if I choose to, will I get in trouble? I did not disclose this to meps because I was doing paperwork for the ARMY first and that recruiter told me it wouldn't matter and not to disclose it. But I was running and I just started coughing and wheezing after. Or could it be that I am out of shape?
 
You could just be out of shape BUT if you have problems breathing in basic or beyond that training and the military finds out about your childhood asthma you can find yourself in trouble.
