i am 6 feet, 145 pounds. How do I build muscle?

i have been working out for like 3 weeks now. I am noticing a little bit of muscle gain but not too much. I work out every other day for about a half hour, focusing on upper body. I also drink a protein shake after i work out. Will i build muscle doing this?
 
eat plently of protein, low fat and plenty of greens. just keep working out, it takes time to build muscle so its gonna take about 6 months.
